Micah Berman is an associate professor Ohio State University’s College of Public Health and Moritz College of Law. His research explores the intersection between public health research and legal doctrine, and he is a co-author of The New Public Health Law: A Transdisciplinary Approach to Practice and Advocacy, now in its second edition. Prior to joining Ohio State, he founded and directed policy centers in Ohio and Massachusetts that provided support to state and local public health programs. He also served as a senior advisor to the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products and as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice. In 2021, he received the David P. Rall Award for Advocacy in Public Health from the American Public Health Association in recognition of his efforts to reduce tobacco-related disease and death. He received his J.D. with distinction from Stanford Law School and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Brandeis University.
