New Resource: Connecting the Dots – How to Message the Abuse of State Preemption

LSSC’s new messaging guide, Connecting the Dots – How to Message the Abuse of State Preemption, is now live and available for reference.

The guide reflects the latest messaging for how to talk about the abuse of state preemption and how many elected officials use preemption to entrench inequities and take power away from people and communities. The guide is largely based on the results of new message research that the African American Research Collaborative (AARC) conducted for LSSC late last year, and also includes some key considerations to bear in mind when having conversations about preemption.

One of the biggest challenges we face in communicating the harm of abusive preemption is just how wonky of a discussion it can feel like at times. The message research from AARC, as well as the updated narrative framework in this guide, can help us have conversations that are more grounded in tangible issues and how those issues impact people.
